How do IPL and Laser Hair Reduction Work?
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light): IPL uses broad-spectrum light pulses to target hair follicles, damaging them and reducing future hair growth. Laser Hair Removal: laser hair removal uses a focused beam of light to target hair follicles, similar to IPL, but with a more precise wavelength. Effectiveness: both methods are most effective on medium to dark hair. Grey and blonde hair is unable to be treated. IPL is used on light to medium skin tones. Nd:yag 1064 laser at Edit can be used on all skin tones.

What to Expect Before Treatment:
Shaving: shave the treatment area thoroughly before your first IPL/laser appointment, please leave hair insitu to be viewed during consultation.. Avoid waxing/plucking: do not wax, pluck, or use depilatory creams for several weeks before treatment. Sun Exposure: avoid sun exposure and tanning (including fake tan) before and after treatment.
Consultation: by having a consultation with a professional your hair type and skin type can be assessed to determine if you are a suitable candidate.

During Treatment:
Mild Discomfort: Most people experience mild discomfort, like a snapping rubber band or warm pinpricks. Protective Eyewear: You and the technician will need to wear protective eyewear. Multiple Sessions: Multiple sessions are usually required to achieve optimal results. For denser hair growth 8-10 treatments are commended.
Redness: Some redness or swelling around the treated area is common and usually subsides quickly.

After Treatment:
Aftercare: Follow your technician's aftercare instructions, which may include avoiding sun exposure, hot baths, and certain products. Exfoliation: Gentle exfoliation can help with hair shedding.
Maintenance: Maintenance treatments may be needed yearly to maintain results as changes in hormones or certain medications can cause hair to return.
