Vascular Lesion Treatment for Diffuse Redness (VLT)

Diffuse redness, often caused by telangiectasia (dilation and widening of small blood vessels), and broken capillaries, can make the skin appear uneven and flushed. At Edit IPL and Laser Clinic, we use IPL therapy to target and treat vascular lesions, including diffuse redness. By delivering precise light energy, IPL reduces visible blood vessels and calms inflammation, helping to restore a more even, clear complexion. This non-invasive treatment is effective for improving skin tone and reducing redness with minimal downtime.

F. A.Q.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy can effectively treat diffuse redness and vascular lesions by using high-intensity pulses of visible light to target and damage blood vessels, leading to a reduction in redness and improved skin appearance.

What is IPL and how does it work?

IPL is a non-invasive, non-ablative treatment: that uses high-intensity pulses of visible light to target specific skin conditions. It works by targeting the red pigment in blood vessels, which absorbs the light and heats up, causing the blood vessels to coagulate and eventually fade. This process can effectively reduce redness associated with telangiectasia and other vascular lesions.

What can I expect during and after IPL treatment?

The treatment is generally quick and painless, with some patients describing the sensation as a mild rubber band flick or a gentle warmth. After the treatment, some temporary redness and swelling may occur, but these usually subside within 24-48 hours. The treated blood vessels will gradually fade as the body processes and eliminates the damaged tissue, which can take a few weeks to several months. Multiple sessions are usually required to achieve optimal results, typically spaced 3-4 weeks apart. It's important to avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen after treatment to protect the treated skin - 50+ Broad Spectrum sunscreen is recommended.

Important considerations:

Consult with a qualified professional to determine if IPL is the right treatment option for you and to discuss any potential risks or side effects. Be realistic about the results and understand that multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve the desired outcome. Follow the aftercare instructions carefully to ensure optimal healing and minimise any potential complications.
