Acne Treatment
Acne is a common skin condition that can cause inflammation, breakouts, and scarring, often affecting confidence and skin health. At Edit IPL and Laser Clinic, we use IPL therapy to target acne-causing bacteria, to reduce redness, and calm inflammation. This treatment helps clear active breakouts while promoting smoother, healthier skin, reducing the risk of future flare-ups.

F.A.Q.
What is IPL acne treatment?
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) uses light energy to target and reduce acne bacteria, inflammation, and redness, promoting skin healing. It's a non-invasive procedure that can be used to treat various skin conditions, including acne, wrinkles, and age spots.

How does IPL work for acne?
IPL emits short bursts of light that penetrate the skin and target specific areas, including acne bacteria and inflamed tissues. The light energy converts into heat, which helps to kill bacteria, reduce inflammation, and stimulate collagen production, leading to improved skin texture and reduced acne. Skin type and acne severity are factors for successful treatment. Side effects are typically mild and temporary, such as redness, swelling, and rarely, pigment changes.
Who is an ideal candidate for IPL acne treatment?
People with persistent acne, redness, and some acne scarring may benefit from IPL treatment.
It's particularly effective for inflammatory acne and can help reduce the appearance of red blemishes.

How many sessions are required?
Typically, 4-6 sessions are recommended, spaced about a month apart, but this can vary depending on the individual and the severity of their acne.
What can I expect during and after treatment?
During the procedure, you may feel a mild stinging or burning sensation, similar to a rubber band snap. At Edit our IPL handpiece has sapphire cooling to minimise discomfort. After treatment, you may experience temporary redness, swelling, and in some cases, mild bruising. Avoid sun exposure and use gentle skincare products after treatment. 50+ Broad Spectrum sunscreen is a must.
